I was born in 1963 in San Francisco del Mar Oaxaca, Mexico. At the age of 17, I moved to Oaxaca City, where I began my art studies in the Rufino Tamayo workshop. Since my hometown was and still is very small, the cinema amazed me when I first watch it. When I had the opportunity to visit Mexico City, I used to go as much as possible to the "Cineteca Nacional" (National Cinema).
In my early years as a professional artist, I found my inspiration on the big screen.
In 1980 I entered the Rufino Tamayo workshop. With Roberto Donís as my teacher, I learned the painting and engraving techniques.
